Attribution

Attribution is identifying which channel/ad actually brought a sale or lead. Without it you can't know which channel to direct budget to.

Back to the knowledge base

Attribution is correctly tying a result (lead, sale) to the channel or touch that brought it. A customer often passes through several channels (saw an ad → came from search → opened an email), so "which one sold?" is a complex question.

Without attribution, budget is spent blindly: it's unknown which channel works. Proper attribution shows each channel's real contribution and directs budget to what works.

Frequently asked questions

What's the simplest attribution model?

"Last touch" (last-click) ties the result to the final channel. It's simple but ignores the contribution of earlier touches. Complex models (linear, data-driven) split the credit.
