Enter with an offer that isn't on the market. A problem found through cust-dev, and a unique promise: "junior to middle in 4 months."

If you want to open an IT school, enter the market with a unique selling proposition (USP). In a market where everyone offers the same thing, only a different offer stands out.

Market state and the problems found

Everyone in the market sells the same thing: IT classes for kids, going from 0 to junior, finishing and getting a job, and so on. 1.5 years ago, while bringing UIC IT Academy to market, I did cust-dev and found the following problems.

There are many graduates from various schools, but employers ask for a portfolio — and sadly there isn't enough of one. Juniors flood the market, and demand for them has dropped. There's a stereotype that "going from junior to middle takes a long time." A junior gets stuck at a $300–500 salary, and soft skills are lacking.

The offer missing from the market

On top of exactly these problems, I built an offer that wasn't on the market: "From junior to middle in 4 months, based on international experience." We went to market with this offer. Even though we couldn't sell greatly because the sales team wasn't fully supported, 40+ students were taught, and about 200 juniors came to an offline seminar from across the country. Over 100 people a day showed interest saying "these are my problems."

How to build it

If you build a good sales team; admit students by exam (not from zero, but at junior level with at least 1 year of experience); have them code 8–9 hours a day on real projects for 4 months, and assign strong developers as mentors — you can turn a junior into a middle.

There's no such offer on the market yet. Make an MVP, test it with a single video and targeting — it delivers. Review your pricing and start.
