Cost Per Click (CPC)

CPC (Cost Per Click) is the price of one click on an ad. A key metric in Google Ads and paid targeting; the click then has to convert.

Back to the knowledge base

CPC (Cost Per Click) is the price paid per click on an ad. Formula: CPC = cost ÷ clicks. This model is common in Google Ads and many platforms — you pay for the action (click), not for the impression.

A low CPC is good but not enough: the click lands on the site and then has to convert. A cheap click meeting a poor landing page still wastes money.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between CPC and CPL?

CPC is the price of one click. CPL is the price of one lead (a person who left a contact). Since one lead needs many clicks, CPL is always higher than CPC.
