Cost Per Mille (CPM)

CPM (Cost Per Mille) is the cost of showing an ad 1,000 times. A key metric in reach and brand campaigns, but it measures impressions, not sales.

Back to the knowledge base

CPM (Cost Per Mille) is the price paid to show an ad 1,000 times. Formula: CPM = (cost ÷ impressions) × 1,000. It's used mainly in reach and awareness campaigns.

CPM shows how cheaply you reach an audience but says nothing about the result (leads, sales). So read it not alone but together with CTR and conversion.

Frequently asked questions

Is a low CPM good?

Not always. A low CPM can mean a wrong, cheap audience. What matters is whether those impressions turn into quality clicks and conversions. Judge CPM against CAC.
