Sales Pipeline

A pipeline is a view of all deals currently in progress and which stage each is at. It lets you forecast future sales in advance.

Back to the knowledge base

A sales pipeline is a view of all currently open opportunities (deals) and their stage (contact → meeting → proposal → close), usually inside a CRM. It answers the salesperson's question "what do I have in hand right now?"

A pipeline gives the business a forecast: based on deals per stage and average conversion, you can estimate roughly how much will sell next month. An empty pipeline is an early warning of future no-sales.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between a pipeline and a funnel?

The funnel is the audience's general path (saw → interested → bought), in percentages. The pipeline is specific, named deals and their current stage. The funnel is a model; the pipeline is a real list.
