When cost per lead (CPL) is high, the first instinct is to make ads cheaper. But the reliable way to lower CPL isn't ad price — it's improving each stage of the funnel.
Why CPL is high
CPL rises from three things: a weak offer (people click but don't leave a request), a slow or confusing landing page (low conversion), or the wrong audience (shown to uninterested people). Check those three, not the ad price.
But a cheap lead isn't always good
Careful: the cheapest lead is often the most expensive lead. A low CPL can bring low-quality leads and drown the sales team in empty calls. The right question isn't "what's the CPL?" but "will this lead convert to a sale?" Always read CPL together with CAC.
